Good morning to my 5 blog readers! I have a very important question for you this morning. Can you please give me recommendations for children's music/CDs that I can listen to with my 17-month-old? Last week I bought one that, seriously, made me want to do myself physical harm if listened to for more than two songs. It was horrible, and I will be returning it TODAY. If you don't believe me, just ask my mom. She would rather listen to the two songs Livers likes over and over rather than listen to the 50 that this compilation had.
Please leave your ideas in comments. Livers and I will be eternally grateful!!!

I really like the Veggie Tales stuff, but it is not for everyone. The songs are wacky and the voices can be annoying. Don't know why I like it all so much. Unfortunately almost everything else we have is in French.
I think I mentioned to you before how much I love They Might Be Giants' "Here come the ABCs" Another that my girls like is Laurie Berkner. I'm partial to Dan Zanes, myself.
Wee Sing Bible Songs - my kids LOVE it!!
The Curious George Soundtrack ... Or Jack Johnson's lullabyes. Awesome! I can actually listen to this over and over. Plus, Peanut LOVES it and it always calms her in LA traffic. Note to self: send Jack a BIG thank you for my sanity!
Apple Joos - I remember you mentioning this, and I'm going to have to get on it. TMBG is really good stuff to begin with, so it'll give her a little modern culture.
Maternal Mirth - I think I have that Jack Johnson CD, and I really liked it (particularly the Recycle Song). I'll have to put that on my ghetto iPod.
I'll check out the other suggestions, too.
I haven't kept up on children's music lately but I have always liked Ella Jenkins, Pete Seeger, Free to Be You and Me by many artists.
I second Laurie Berkner and Dan Zanes. Raffi is a great classic that I loved and my kids do too. I also like the Backyardigans music...call me crazy but some of the tunes are kinda catchy! Or maybe I am seriously delusional!
Dan Zanes is my favorite. I also love the Barenaked Ladies new kids album, "Snack Time." It's greatness. Those don't make me want to put my head through the windshield of my car.
I second the Backyardigans too. They are catchy. Skip the Wiggles. Wee One loves them. They drive me insane.
Oh! I forgot ... they have a School House Rocks compilation out! "Conjunction Junction", "I am just a Bill", "Three is the Magic Number" ... oh, I miss Saturday mornings in the 80's!
OH We LOVE DAN ZANES too!
Also, my kids LOVE Jack Johnson and Friends Sing-a-longs and Lullabies for the film Curious George.
I just remembered another one - Signing Times - My kids love this one!!! They sing and dance all over the house!!
