Sniffs, Sleeps, and Socks. Pink Need Only Apply.

It's a sick, sick, sick, sick world over here. No, we don't have bad minds. But we are in bad health. Everyone (minus the dogs) is in some stage of a cold right now. J is getting over one, and Livers and I are in the beginning throws of the one he gave to us. Our snot runneth over, so to speak. (Lovely imagery, I know.)

On a less disgusting and more humorous note is Livers. She is fairly typical of a 22-month-old in that she has to have certain "comfort" items to sleep with. However, her crib at night is starting to border on the ridiculous. She has with her, at this moment:
  • A blue teddy bear
  • A penguin (named Rainbow Rob. All penguins are named Rainbow Rob, thanks to a book she loves by the same title.)
  • A doggie
  • A large baby with a button up outfit that HAS to be snapped up (I got away with it tonight)
  • A small baby
  • "Workout Ducky" (it used to have a night cap, but she pulled it off, and the remaining part of the cap looks like a headband used to keep sweat out of your eyes)
  • Small blankie
  • "Other" blankie (a large one)
  • Another blankie
  • Juicy (for a doll)
  • Milkie (for a doll)
  • "Little Milkie" (for a doll; this we just started requesting)
  • Ice-cube water (to drink; and it HAS to have ice cubes or fits will be pitched)
  • And a pink sock
Is this the most random list of things or what?

I'm sure I'm to blame for this. I always liked having a bagillion things to sleep with at night as a child, and I probably impressed this upon her. However, I stuck to more typical fare like stuffed animals. The need for a sock is kinda weird (and comical). I'm sure she wouldn't mind the absence of some of these things, but I've never tried it. That's definitely my weirdness at play, I'm sure.

She wouldn't be my beautiful daughter if it weren't for her delightful quirks! I sure them, socks and all :)

I have to say, this really sounds like you are sending out a secret message more than a list of bed items... kind of like "the turkey has one blue leg" meaning, I can't even think of what... so, where does the pink sock go?

In her hand and usually over her crib, along with at least one other item, depending on her mood :)

Ah yes - we are the family of sicklies too. Not me though - evidently God knows that if I get sick the whole house would go to shambles...
And for the crib stuff - Avery went thru this too. I have a post some time back about the 500 items he needs in his crib. We have scaled down back to the original few, but last night he did need his train. that lasted until I kept hearing him hit repeat on the song....over and over and over...

Here's my list for my daughter, 29 months in her big girl bed.

Darby
Buster
Small shiny mermaid doll
Jammer (local Baseball team mascot)
Bert (not Ernie)

Nightlight on.
And the Ocean that used to hang over her crib is set up so she can watch it in bed.
Set to Twinkle Twinkle.

Must sing once slow, then once fast.

Then I can leave her room. Sigh...
but I love it!

You should see my 13 year olds bed! :)

I hope you all are feeling better soon.

Everything but the pink sock seems normal. Try messing with her a little bit by putting a blue sock in her crib instead, then laugh hysterically when she starts crying. Yeah, that's the kind of parent I am : ).

Hope you are all getting over your colds. My daughter always had various toys in her bed with her when she was 2. Her favorite thing however was a cardigan that she used to wear and then liked to cuddle. She still has it now (age 12!) and it's just a big knot of raggy bits!!

Sorry to hear you all are not feeling well... hope you get better soon.

I hate to tell you but it doesn't get any better... my 5 year old still sleeps with a bed full (seriously, I don't see how there is room for herself on there!) and they have to be just so or drama ensues.
